Orange County Young Republicans http://www.ocyr.org/ Latest news from Orange County Young Republicans en-us The Entitlement is Living in America, Everything Else is Extra! http://ocyoungrepublicans.org/index.php?id=10 http://ocyoungrepublicans.org/index.php?id=10 Tue, 09 Mar 10 21:03:49 -0700

Our time is now, this is our America, and we must be patriots who stand up for America.  This is NOT a Democrat versus Republican nation anymore; this is a nation of those who love America and those who don’t.  We can either continue down a road that both parties have led us, or we can stand up as Americans and true patriots and take back our Country.  I want American Patriots to win elections, not wishy-washy Republicans who warm seats but have NO vision.  I don’t want people to just vote the right way, I want people to act the right way and lead. I am not concerned about titles or power or money or alphabet soup, I concerned that my Party isn’t acting.  It isn’t acting to hold all accountable who raised our taxes, took control of our lives, and promised to act as Republicans but then checked the R at the door to sit on committees, further their political careers and increase their bank accounts.  We don’t need a third Party; we need the Republicans to act like Republicans.  We shouldn’t be the Party to say, “Yes” because it easy and nice, we should be the Party that says “NO” and has a clear alternative and an action plan.  Young Americans, Young Professionals and Young Families need to start holding our elected officials accountable and working HARD to get conservatives elected.

Orange County Young Republicans had an amazing 2009, but our year to shine is 2010.  We made early endorsements for Allan Mansoor and Don Wagner and took some heat for our decisions, but we are steadfast and ready to get them elected.  OCYR will continue to register voters here in Orange County and work to see that NO liberal has a safe haven here in Orange County. OCYR is committed to Orange County.  We are losing ground, because Republicans forgot to act like Republicans and Democrats are fighting hard to win.

Our Party must act as the Party who believes in lower taxes, less government, strong national defense and conservative principles, because those ideas are embraced by everyone who loves America and wants it to succeed.  We cannot let the media change our party; our party must present a clear message to the media, but never back down from our principles.  We must continue to be the Party that doesn't talk about gender, race or age. Rather, we must focus on the content of one's character as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. instructed us to do.

A year ago the Democrats took control.  Under my watch as OCYR President and with our amazing Board, Liberals, whether Democrat or Republican, are NO longer welcome in office in Orange County.  Winning at all costs is too expensive for the American people. OCYR pledges to do what we need to do to once again make Orange County the most Republican County in the Nation.  We will work with every organization and every person who wants America to succeed.  This isn’t one club versus another, this is American Patriots versus those who aren’t.  This is about local control, actions speaking louder than words, transparency and bringing our Country back to its Judeo-Christian principles.  It’s not about having a seat at the table; no one should be sitting!  This is about standing at a podium and screaming at the top of our lungs.  Yes, the OCYR Board is frustrated, but more importantly we are ready to take action and lead.  Do you want to take action or do you want to complain? If you want to take action then let’s work together to once again make America the Strongest and the Best Country this World has ever seen.

Our Goals are simple: Help promote and elect strong conservative leaders in Orange County by walking precincts, phone banking and hosting events, continuing to register voters at our local piers and gun shows, hosting fun events in Orange County to draw in new members and holding our elected officials accountable.  In a time when Democrats virtually eclipse Republicans in youth support, calling into question the long-term prospects of the Republican Party, our organization could not be of greater importance. The work of our leaders and elected officials could be squandered in a generation if we fail now to rally young Americans to the Republican Party.  Our OCYR executive board refuses to let that happen. This is our country, and it's our time to step up and make a difference to ensure that future generations will live in a country that promotes smaller government, lower taxes, a strong national defense and conservative principles.

I understand that this will take a lot of work and dedication by the entire board and support from leaders, but I am confident that we will meet all these challenges and will surpass all expectations.   Please feel free to contact me anytime and thank you again for the opportunity to lead!

May God Bless you, our great country, and all those who have and continue to protect our freedom.

Who are the Young Republicans?

The Orange County Young Republicans (OCYR) is an organization consisting of young professionals who are committed to a common sense approach to politics, low taxation, limited government and social conservatism. OCYR is a wholly independent organization with its own bylaws, funding, and Executive Board. This means that OCYR and its members make their own decisions on how best to support the Republican Party in Orange County, whether by endorsing candidates, promoting voter registration, or encouraging our party's youth to take a strong leadership role. What do they stand for?

What do they stand for?

The Orange County Young Republicans are committed to the four key principles of Reagan Republicanism: limiting government to its proper constitutional functions, promoting a strong national defense, lowering taxes and regulation, and upholding the twin values of liberty and personal responsibility.

What do they do?

You may have seen us registering voters throughout Orange County, or walking precincts for our endorsed candidates in the last election, or perhaps you came to one of our popular monthly Mixers. To learn more about the wide range of events sponsored by OCYR, please click here. Events

How do I learn more about them?

The easiest way to learn more about us is to come to one of our meetings or events. Our General Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Kimera Restaurant, 19530 Jamboree Rd., Irvine, CA 92612. Each meeting features a distinguished speaker of the modern conservative movement and are open to the public. We also may discuss current actions or plans for our organization and invite our members to get involved. Our monthly Mixers are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at a rotating location in Orange County. Of course, the best way to learn who we are, is to join our organization and get involved right away!
